About Atlanta Capital Lending

Atlanta Capital Lending is a small, entrepreneurial private real estate lender based in Marietta, Georgia.

We are not a large corporate environment. We are a close-knit, hands-on company where people work directly with ownership and have the opportunity to understand the entire business.

Despite our size, the financial transactions we manage can be sophisticated. We originate and service real estate loans, manage investor capital, loan participations, construction escrows and draws, bank financing, liquidity, and credit exposure.

We are looking for an unusually capable finance professional who wants to understand how the entire financial machine works , not simply perform one narrow accounting function.

The Role

This position combines accounting, financial analysis, cash management, lending operations, and problem solving .

The right person will eventually understand where every dollar in the company comes from, where it goes, how it should be accounted for, and whether the numbers across our systems make sense.

You will work directly with company leadership and gradually take ownership of the company’s financial function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is intelligent, curious, analytical, highly responsible, and interested in developing a broad understanding of a private lending business.

What You Will Do

• Manage and improve the company’s accounting and financial reporting
• Perform bank and balance-sheet reconciliations
• Help manage month-end close and financial statements
• Track company cash and prepare short- and medium-term liquidity forecasts
• Reconcile loan balances between servicing, accounting and bank activity
• Track loan fundings, payoffs, construction reserves and draws
• Account for borrower interest, fees and other loan income
• Track investor capital, interest and distributions
• Understand and reconcile loan participations with other lenders and investors
• Build financial models and analyses to help management make decisions
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and profitability analysis
• Identify discrepancies before they become problems
• Improve financial controls and processes
• Investigate unusual transactions and determine what happened economically and how they should be recorded
• Work directly with ownership on financial and business decisions

• Understands financial statements and basic accounting
• Is highly comfortable with numbers
• Has strong Excel skills and can build analyses from scratch
• Naturally asks, “Does this make sense?”
• Notices when numbers do not reconcile
• Can follow the movement of cash through a transaction
• Enjoys figuring out unfamiliar financial problems
• Learns quickly
• Researches questions independently before asking others to solve them
• Is careful without becoming paralyzed by uncertainty
• Takes personal responsibility for accurate and timely work
• Is comfortable working directly with company owners
• Does not need a large corporate infrastructure or narrowly defined responsibilities
• Is humble enough to say “I don’t know” and motivated enough to figure out the answer
• Wants to become an expert in the business rather than simply perform assigned tasks

Background

• Commercial banking or credit
• Private lending/private credit
• Real estate finance
• Transaction advisory
• Corporate finance
• Fund accounting
• Financial analysis with meaningful accounting exposure

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.

CPA, MBA, Master’s in Accounting, or Master’s in Finance credentials are valuable but not required . Demonstrated ability matters more to us than credentials alone.

We are open to someone earlier in their career if they demonstrate exceptional analytical ability, financial aptitude, curiosity, and capacity to learn quickly.
